The Goodwill Excel Center® is now taking online student applications for classes starting this fall. Students interested in enrolling in the free school can go to www.excelcenternil.org and fill out an application.
Any individual 18 years or older can apply. There is no age limit. Students will receive a state-certified high school diploma (not a GED), free on-site childcare, transportation assistance, industry certifications, and wrap-around support.
The school will enroll 150-200 students for the fall opening and will enroll students every 8 weeks for classes.
The Excel Center will be located inside the SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA, 200 Y Blvd., Rockford, and is currently being renovated with seven classrooms, a state-of-the-art computer lab, and on-site childcare. Applications are only being taken online.
“Goodwill is excited to not only start the enrollment process but also to see the positive impact The Excel Center will have on our students and their families,” Ben Bernsten, President of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois, said.
